Budget 2025 overlooks ‘Sin Tax’: Ultra-Processed foods continue fuelling early cancers in young Indians

With ultra-processed food consumption surging by 13.7 per cent between 2011 and 2021, and rural India now allocating 9.6 per cent of its food budget to these products (compared to 10.6 per cent in urban areas), the call for a ‘sin tax’ to curb their impact on public health has never been more urgent.
