Health department officials say that a person undertaking the Covid-19 test has an option to get an RT-PCR test too. A diagnostic test identifies active coronavirus infection. Molecular tests, such as RT-PCR test, detect the virus’s genetic material whereas antigen tests detect specific proteins on the surface of the virus.
