Researchers discovered a scorpion toxin that targets the “wasabi receptor” in nerve cells, responsible for the sinus-jolting sting of wasabi and tears with onions. Scientists think it can be used for studying chronic pain and inflammation, and may lead to new kinds of non-opioid pain relievers.
