Breaking the Stigma Together with Best-in-Class Resources

Psych Hub was founded on the belief that we can create a movement in the mental health space through education. That is why we are excited to not only partner with Psych Central, but to announce a truly integrated initiative that provides people with the resources they need for themselves, a loved one, or a patient. As of today, Psych Central will have direct access to the over 100 videos in the Psych Hub library. Not only can you now read about symptoms or treatment options, but you will be able to watch associated videos to enhance your learning experience.

I have always been a huge fan of Psych Central. They provide tremendous trusted and credible resources that we all rely on. It is an honor to partner with them.

At Psych Hub we are re-imagining mental health education through thoughtful design. Psych Hub was founded in 2018 and officially launched in 2019. I founded the organization with fellow mental health advocate, Patrick J. Kennedy with the mission to be the hub for all things mental health and to be the credible source people could rely on when looking for information in their wellness journey. We are the most comprehensive online video library for mental health, substance use, and suicide prevention with over 100 free, engaging videos. All videos are between 2 and 4 minutes long and go through rigorous clinical and creative quality assurance to ensure they are evidence-based, trauma-informed and non-triggering. Psych Hub videos are meant to be shared with everyone. Our videos are created at a basic reading comprehension level and available with subtitles in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

One of the biggest priorities for myself and the rest of the team is ensuring our videos go through an extensive review process. We have both clinical and creative review at every stage of our production process. In fact, our process is so robust, we have a patent pending. Clinical and Ph.D. review happens at each step in the production process. Clinical review ensures all content is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and non-triggering. Creative review ensures all content is diverse representing different cultures, voices and body types. Our videos follow online education best practices and are engaging and innovative. The stories in our videos are visualized through animation to reinforce the many faces of mental health. Anyone can be impacted regardless of your race, gender or socioeconomic class. The sensory elements of our video content are designed to give hope and ultimately inspire those impacted by mental health, substance use, and suicidal ideation that help works.

One of the problems Psych Hub is looking to solve is the level of difficulty consumers go through to find credible video content  about mental health. This is also why partnerships with organizations like Psych Central are so important to us. We share a mutual mission to provide the best information possible to individuals and providers.

I often hear “we need people to tell their stories to break the mental health stigma.” While I believe that statement whole-heartedly, we need to give people the tools to understand their experiences and provide hope for getting better before we ask them to share their stories. Breaking the stigma starts with education, and if we are going to impact the current mental health crisis we have to provide free and credible information to all. Together with Psych Central, we believe we are providing the right tools people need to understand their own mental health, better serve their patients, and create a movement around mental health. We are excited to work with Psych Central and get the world PsychEd!
