Healthcare spending surge eases public burden

According to the latest National Health Accounts (NHA) data for 2021-22, government health expenditure (GHE) has surged from 1.13% of GDP in 2014-15 to 1.84% in 2021-22, and its share of overall government spending rose from 3.94% to 6.12%. This increase, which includes tripling per capita health spending from Rs 1,108 to Rs 3,169, is enabling more affordable and accessible healthcare for the public, helping to alleviate financial burdens on individuals.
