Voicing concerns over the declining air quality in the national capital, Dr Neeraj Kumar Gupta, Head of Pulmonology Department at Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi, said, "The people living in Delhi have to breathe in the air quality, which has reached a very poor category, which may cause serious diseases."

Antibiotics for common childhood infections not effective in large parts of world: Study

According to a study led by the University of Sydney, many antibiotics recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) showed less than 50 per cent efficacy in treating children disorders such as pneumonia, sepsis (bloodstream infections), and meningitis. The findings show that global antibiotic guidelines are out of date and must be modified.

Study reveals improving deep sleep can help avoid dementia

The study, led by Associate Professor Matthew Pase, from the Monash School of Psychological Sciences and the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health in Melbourne, Australia, and published today in JAMA Neurology, looked at 346 participants, over 60 years of age, enrolled in the Framingham Heart Study who completed two overnight sleep studies in the time periods 1995 to 1998 and 2001 to 2003, with an average of five years between the two studies.

Delhi hospitals witness spike in emergency patients as air pollution increases: AIIMS

A study conducted by the top four hospitals on the relationship between rising pollution and emergency cases coming to hospitals showed that deteriorating air quality has a severe impact on human lungs and overall health. The study that was conducted between 2017 and 2019 included the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi; Kalavati Saran Children's Hospital; Vallabhbhai Chest Institute; and the National Institute of TB and Respiratory Diseases Hospital.
