Health ministry working on national menstrual policy to ensure access to safe, hygienic products

According to the National Family Health Survey 5, 78 per cent women in the 15-24 age group use a hygienic method of protection during their menstrual cycle. This marks a rise from 58 per cent in the National Family Health Survey 4. According to the latest survey, 64 per cent of these women use sanitary napkins, 50 per cent use cloth and 15 per cent use locally prepared napkins.

India records 47 new COVID cases

The country's COVID case tally has been recorded at 4.49 crore (4,49,95,980), it said. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease rose to 4,44,62,510 and the national recovery rate has been recorded at 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry website.

‘Free seat under 7.5 per cent quota not free in govt medical college

In 2020, the Tamil Nadu government introduced the 7.5 per cent quota for admission of students from government schools in state-run medical colleges and self-financing medical colleges. The entire fee for these students including that of hostel and mess will be borne by the government. Last week, 719 NEET-qualified candidates were given MBBS and BDS seat allotment orders under the quota in the presence of health minister Ma Subramanian. Ten students were allotted seats at the government medical college in Trichy.
