‘Free seat under 7.5 per cent quota not free in govt medical college
In 2020, the Tamil Nadu government introduced the 7.5 per cent quota for admission of students from government schools in state-run medical colleges and self-financing medical colleges. The entire fee for these students including that of hostel and mess will be borne by the government. Last week, 719 NEET-qualified candidates were given MBBS and BDS seat allotment orders under the quota in the presence of health minister Ma Subramanian. Ten students were allotted seats at the government medical college in Trichy.

Health Minister Mandaviya to launch e-CARe portal to facilitate transfer of mortal remains of Indians who die abroad
Aim of the portal is to provide 24x 7 Designated Nodal officer to scrutinise, and approval within 48 hours timeline. Overall Uniformity in the entire process will be ensured, as per the Union Ministry of Health. It will also remove subjectivity by respective Air Port Health Offices (APHOS).

Increase in organ transplants post Covid, govt says
In 2022, organ transplants reached 16,041 a 31 per cent annual increase from 2021, Minister of State for Health SP Singh Baghel said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. The Centre organised the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation Scientific Dialogue in February, attended by 519 participants.
